A politician, a journalist, and a PR executive hold a meeting....
Sounds like the beginning of a joke? Well for many Illinoisans that's likely what they think of the Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce's choice of speakers at their recent meeting.
The Chamber invited Republican Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka, SouthTown writer Phil Kadner, and PR executive Thom Serafin to provide a "new" perspective on Illinois politics.
In answer to a question about new ideas on how to turn the Illinois Republican Party around, Topinka admited her solutions were "nothing revolutionary.”
And therein lies the problem.
