WHEATON, IL - Effective at the conclusion of the Wheaton City Council meeting on November 19, Jeanne Ives resigned her position as Wheaton City Councilwoman. Ives has enjoyed serving the citizens of Wheaton and is looking forward to representing the 42nd House District in the Illinois General Assembly.
Ives intentionally resigned prior to November 30th so that her seat could be made available for election by the citizens instead of an appointment process. The election for her seat will be held with the other Spring municipal elections.
In her letter of resignation Ives stated, “I believe local government is the most effective government and it has been a pleasure to be involved in developing and voting on policies that affect our community. I feel very fortunate to have worked with professional staff and colleagues while on the council. Our community is fortunate to have knowledgeable and dedicated staff to advise and support our council decisions. I thank them for their commitment to making Wheaton one of the finest places to live in Illinois.”
As a new state representative, Ives is committed to keeping in contact with all her constituents and providing the best service to the 42nd District. A press release with all of her district contact and office information and website will be published as soon as it is available.
