HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL – Former Candidate for Governor and Illinois State Senator Steve Rauschenberger has endorsed Hoffman Estates Deputy Mayor Cary J. Collins for the 22nd District State Senate seat.
“Cary Collins brings a fresh perspective to Illinois politics,” said Rauschenberger. “Cary’s opponent currently follows the whims of party leaders in Springfield, not the demands of citizens in the 22nd District.”
"I am honored by Senator Rauschenberger’s support,” said Collins. “His public service to the people of the 22nd District for nearly fifteen years was exemplary. I look forward to bringing our constituents the same standards of integrity and results that Steve was renowned for.”
Rauschenberger served as State Senator from the 22nd District from 1993-2007. He served as the Senate Republican’s chief budget negotiator, as well as being counted as one of the “Fab Five.” The group consisted of five senators who challenged their party’s leadership and enacted sound public policy, in a bi-partisan fashion. Later, Rauschenberger was a candidate for the United States Senate in 2004 and Governor in 2006.
