Atlas Shrugged Part II will be opening nationwide this Friday, and Part II is getting thumbs up from Freedom Lovers who've seen it. The story Atlas Shrugged was written in the 1940s by author Ayn Rand, who is an icon to individualists, capitalists and libertarians. Rand herself was not committed to traditional moral values, but she cherished creativity and individual achievement, a direct contrast to today's liberal societal ideal of collectivism.
Atlas Shrugged Part I laid out the introductory segment of Rand's novel with key characters - the CEO of Taggart Railroads, Dagny Taggart and the founder and owner of Rearden Metals, Hank Rearden. In this short evalution video, the Atlas Society focused on Rearden's resistance to a government takeover.
This scene from Part I goes to the heart of entrepeneurship and capitalism and is worth the watch to pick up where Part I left off - with the threat of government takeover. Eventually, Rearden's refusal leads to bureaucractic terrorism. And a warning for America.
