CHICAGO - Voters the DCCC is polling must be much more favorable to the Occupy Crowd than the patriots in the Tea Party segment - where the Democrats' are more comfortable. The DCCC is doing all they can to tie Republicans to the Tea Party, which, it appears, is not a good thing to which one should be tied in Illinois.
The funny thing is, most of the active, informed voters aren't being swayed by the DCCC's ploy. Normal polling shows the Republican candidates' views to be very mainstream, if not in the majority. But that's not the case, the DCCC wrote in a presser Thursday:
The Chicago suburbs are home to three of the most vulnerable Republican Members of Congress in the country. Try as they may to hide their Tea Party values to save their seats, Congressman Joe Walsh, Congressman Bob Dold, and Congresswoman Judy Biggert all betray right-wing ideologies that square them with the Tea Party instead of suburban Illinois voters.
The DCCC says the ideas like innocent life should be protected, that traditional marriage is a healthy norm and that global warming science is suspect show the candidates' "Tea Party stripes." No question that the DCCC is all about the radical extremist Leftist views that line up exactly with the Occupy Now crowd:
- Congressman Walsh: Miracles Prevent Medically Necessary Abortions. In October 2012, during a debate with opponent Tammy Duckworth, Walsh said he was pro-life without exception. When asked after the debate if he would make an exception for life of the mother, Walsh said, “With modern technology and science, you can't find one instance…There is no such exception as life of the mother, and as far as health of the mother, same thing.” [Chicago Tribune, 10/18/12]
- Congresswoman Biggert Compared Gay Marriage to Bigamy, Polygamy. During a press conference following an October 2012 debate, Biggert attempted to clarify her position on gay marriage. Biggert said, “let’s wait and see what the courts have to say. But it is a state issue. We don’t have polygamy and bigamy and all of these things in the federal government.” [ThinkProgress, 10/25/12]
- Congressman Dold: Climate Change Denier. In 2010, Dold’s answer in a Question and Answer session about global warming was paraphrased by the Gurnee Review as, “While the science has been put in question, we don’t know the man-made impacts.” In a 2010 Sun Times questionnaire, Dold questioned the idea that global warming was caused by humans, instead characterizing the question as a “debate.” [Gurnee Review, 1/14/10; Sun Times, accessed 10/15/12]
“The Republican Party today is far right from the mainstream, and Congressman Walsh, Congresswoman Biggert, and Congressman Dold have proven they’re more in line with the Tea Party than independent, middle class Illinois voters,” said Haley Morris of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Whether reverting back to the 1950’s for women’s health, denying the science of climate change, or equating marriage equality to polygamy, Chicagoland Republicans can’t cover up how extreme they are and how far they’re strayed from Illinois middle class families.”
