The NRCC is stirring waters in the 13th CD for Republican candidate for Congress Rodney Davis, who is facing Democrat David Gill -
WASHINGTON --- While President Obama champions his big government spending spree and mantra of “change,” Illinois families are feeling the effects of Democrats’ failed policies and are struggling to maintain their everyday standard of living. Despite this, David Gill continues to stand behind Obama and his fellow Democrats’ pursuit of raising our nation’s debt, taking the economy further down the wrong track.
“It’s troubling that Obama’s idea of ‘change’ is imposing tax hikes on small businesses, robbing seniors of their Medicare and increasing our nation’s debt to more than $15 trillion dollars,” said NRCC Communications director Paul Lindsay. “Will David Gill realize that Obama’s ‘change’ is pushing Illinois families and small businesses down a one-way road to disaster?”
A majority of Americans disapprove of Obama’s record and an even more decisive majority say the nation is headed in the wrong direction:
“Two thirds of the sample said the country is headed off on the wrong track, while just 31 percent think it is headed in the right direction.” (Chris Cillizza, “The 10 numbers that matter in the new Washington Post-ABC News poll,” Washingtion Post, 8/27/2012)
A recent poll revealed that a decline in the average income of families has led Americans to fear for their future and standard of living:
"Fully 85% of self-described middle-class adults say it is more difficult now than it was a decade ago for middle-class people to maintain their standard of living. Of those who feel this way, 62% say "a lot" of the blame lies with Congress…” (Eyder Peralta, “Pew: Middle Class Poorer, Earning Less and Shrinking,” NPR, 8/22/2012)
