CHICAGO - Chicago Alderman Sandi Jackson told the Sun Times Michael Sneed that her husband Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr collapsed at their DC home in exhaustion mid-June. His father Rev. Jesse Jackson and brother Yousef took Jackson to a Tucson Arizona health facility for observation and relaxation.
"He had become completely debilitated by depression," she said, assuring Sneed he is not addicted to drugs or alcohol and he had not tried to commit suicide. While in Tuscon, questions arose about Jackson' s 2004 gastric bypass surgery and its possible connection to his mental weakened condition.
The Jacksons decided to send the Congressman to Minnesota's Mayo Clinic in late July, Mrs. Jackson said. And yes, she fully expects him to return to Congress in the fall.
More at the Sun-Times. Jackson's also the topic of the Sun Times News Group's Southtown Star "Always Right" column, with more information about Jackson's GOP opponent in the General Election, Brian Woodworth.
