PEORIA - Congressman Aaron Schock said Mitt Romney’s choice of Congressman Paul Ryan for Vice President is “exhilarating.”
“Paul Ryan is an intellectual world heavy weight champion,” said Schock. “Paul is a friend I have worked out with every morning at 6:30 am that the House has been in session in Washington. We also serve together on the House Ways and Means Committee. Just two weeks ago Paul Ryan addressed a large group of my constituents that I brought to Washington, DC. . I have had the honor of seeing up close how Paul is one of the most admirably principled people in our government. He is deep, substantive, original and committed to rescuing the American people from decline."
Schock continued, “When others in government repeatedly failed to lead, Paul Ryan stepped up to offer a clear-headed assessment of the state of our finances, coupled with the most original plans to start living within our means, unleash economic growth and opportunity. Paul Ryan’s insights regarding the federal budget are without peer. But those of us who know him well know that he is equally deep on national security and foreign policy. In short, this choice for Vice President radiates Mitt Romney’s leadership and that he intends to be a bold leader as president and not squander the ability to transform America for the better. Mitt Romney is clearly not running for President to merely preside over our country for several years, but rather to boldly lead this country in the right direction.
This choice signals that Mitt Romney is personally very secure….that he seeks to become President to make necessary fundamental reforms that are essential to get our country growing again. Mitt Romney clearly chooses people to serve with him based on merit, principles, depth, wisdom, courage andability to lead in the right direction. Mitt Romney in my estimation demonstrated that he is going to be a bold leader dedicated to reform on behalf of those he serves.
I am 100% confident that Mitt Romney will be well served by Paul Ryan as his vice presidential running mate—and so too will our country be well served with Paul’s service to our country as our next vice president.
This selection bolsters my confidence that Mitt Romney is going to win this election. He has made a breathtakingly inspirational choice for vice president. What a fantastic start to the real campaign of 2012.
