Lake County Housing Authority officials are joining a lawsuit against the federal government over the loss of funding subsidies for their operations.
David Northern, the authority’s executive director, said the recent decision to participate in the legal fight stems from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development withholding operating subsidies from Lake County this year, citing excess money in reserve.
Northern argues that the federal government shouldn’t withold taxpayer-funded federal subsidies just because his agency has not spent all the taxpayer-funded state and local money. More HERE
The taxpayers were not asked for comment, nor are they represented in the lawsuit.
