A Cook County judge has ordered the state to take steps to ensure that union workers whose raises were canceled last year can be paid in the event he rules the raises must be reinstated.
Judge Richard Billik ordered the state to submit vouchers to the comptroller’s office for unspent salary money in some agency budgets. About $18 million in general fund money and an undetermined amount from other state funds is involved, according to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. More HERE
