TAMPA FL - Illinois delegate to the Republican National Convention's platform committee, Sharee Langenstein, offered an amendment to the platform concerning Obamacare. Appointed by Illinois' Romney Campaign Chairman and State Treasurer Dan Rutherford, Langenstein, an attorney in Murphysboro, offered the following amendment to the section on Health, Education and Crime:
"Through Obamacare, the Obama Administration has promoted the notion of abortion as healthcare. We, however, affirm the dignity of women by protecting the sanctity of human life. Numerous studies have shown that abortion endangers the health and well-being of women, and we stand firmly against it."
Ms. Langenstein is married and has six daughters, some who've been adopted into their family. She serves as Eagle Forum's national coordinator for religious freedom issues, works to facilitate adoptions and serves on Illinois Homeschool PAC's Advisory Board.
Tuesday's session, when Ms. Langenstein's amendment was unanimously accepted into the platform, and with the verbal support of American historian and Texas delegate David Barton, is at the 33:00 mark on the CSPAN recording:
