The ideal of American politics is to give reasons for policy differences rather than attack the character of opponents. The ideal of Christianity is to hate the sin but love the sinner. The office of President normaly commands deference to the person who carries the burden of the office and some benefit of the doubt as to any character flaws that person my have. But as more information emerges about how President Barack Obama treats his own family members including his aunt and his half-brother George Obama who lives in Kenya, the benefit of the doubt as to personal character flaws starts to evaporate.
