The massacre that occurred when Wade Michael Page decided to unleash his grotesque and macabre disposition on the peaceful and law-abiding citizens of Oak Creek, WI…citizens who were simply and quietly attending religious services at Sikh Temple of Wisconsin… is just further evidence that people living through this millennium are in for a bumpy and most noxious ride. To say that the uninhibited and stunning violence that we have seen escalating over the last twelve years is tedious or merely out of control completely misses the point. Within very short order, we have played witness as that sort of run-of-the-mill viciousness which we have come to accept as the penalty for our liberal judiciary transformed itself into that unchecked rabidity most associated with wild dogs or a some fabled great white from '70s cinema.
Many people that I have encountered are somewhat mystified by the lack of conscience that has descended upon the people of the world as individuals find justification for themselves in whatever holocaust suits their fancy in the name of tonight's Drudge Report headline. I, myself, am not because I can't think of a bigger waste of time than to worry about Page's motive. My point is this; we as a society mollycoddle the growing epidemic of savagery by even considering whether these soulless and perverted individuals had an excuse for what they did. Why are we continuing to wonder what we could have done to undo crazy? And guys, the insanity defense just doesn't cut it anymore. We ought to be left cold by the sociopathic tendencies which move through civilization in smug satisfaction and wanton lust for depravity. I don't care if Page was a socialist occupier, a neo-Nazi, a Tea Partying grandmother or a Trappist monk. What happened to the victims in Oak Creek was evil, pure and simple. There's no reason for it outside of the fact that some people are just irreparably broken.
That's the lesson to take from this. It's the same lesson we should have learned a couple of weeks ago when a different but oddly similar savage mowed down a crowd of innocents in Colorado. So right on cue? The mainstream media begins its liberal narrative on why guns should be taken out of the hands of law abiding citizens. My ears perked up while listening to ABC News on WLS as some nameless she-reporter detailed in haughty scorn the perversion of Wade Michael Page – culminating in the gotcha moment. Page's gun was obtained…legally.
Did the lights just dim?
I paused at this news…wondering what the point of her little factoid was supposed to be. I suspect that our reporter-ette believes that she has finally unleashed the Rosetta Stone by which all government oppression can now be translated. Has she proven at last in her non-linear splendor that nothing bad would ever happen to anyone if we would just relinquish our Second Amendment rights and succumb to the gun control that we have coming to us? Well, golly. I guess she shore done showed us. Ask Mayor Michael Bloomberg or Mayor Rahm Emanuel or any other wunderkind of machine politics. Someone kills innocent people and it's time for the Justice Department to monitor the emotional stability of every gun holder in the nation. Why, it's only logical.
Per the Washington Examiner:
"In the meantime, Carney said, the Justice Department will 'enhance security by making it harder for those who should not have these weapons to obtain them' through improved background checks.
Honestly. What on earth do they teach in school these days?
So I ask you. Can you imagine what would happen if our access to the Bill of Rights was predicated on the good behavior of the population as a whole? A country where free exercise of religion could be halted because some pastor took the Lord's name in vain or freedom of assembly could cease to exist because a crowd got too rowdy and chalked a homeless street preacher?
Can you tell me where the incentive would be for the happy statists in our midst to behave with constitutional acuity if all they had to do is incite violent transgressions as the means to wiping out a few amendments here or there? Where does that even make sense? Just empower some witless zombie to commit acts of evil and you too can wash away 200 plus years of constitutional protections? The Second Amendment exists specifically to protect you and me from the zealotry of an activist government as it violently reacts to the sadism from psychotic predators. That is the whole point of the Bill of Rights so before you start hemming and hawing over why you should be allowed to own a semi-automatic weapon, before you stammer in disarray over the reason you should be permitted to conceal and carry, before you buy into the harebrained notion that your desire for self-defense was the impetus for Page's hate filled massacre, take a step back and remember.
The Founders outlined the right to bear arms as a fundamental provision for the preservation of liberty but the right to self-defense is unalienable. No man gave you the right to protect yourself and no man can take it away. The Second Amendment is essential to the protection of freedom so for as long as psychotic mass murders can access weapons legally or illegally, you have the right to do the same.
And before some mealy-mouthed peacenik shakes her fist in heightened rage wondering if we should by extension all be allowed to have nuclear devices since the rogue states of the world all have them…if the Administration would harass rogue states with the same voracity that it pursues law-abiding citizens? Terrorism would be extinct, but if we come to a day where the Wade Michael Pages of the world start accessing nukes then let's revisit that discussion. For now, we table it for its willful stupidity.
