I have written before on IR about the general idea that government is also a jealous god and might be even more jealous than the God of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus when it comes to not tolerating any other gods before it. The Obama government has officially endorsed Gay Pride parades and will allow military service men and women to march in uniform in the parades. One wonders if the Department of Defense under Leon Panetta would permit military members to march in uniform in a pro-life parade? I think we know the answer is most likely no.
The Obama Administration does not favor pro-life policies or religious liberty. Why not? Because in spite of their sophistry about "equal" rights, in their world the government is their god and their personal political preferences are the basis of the theology and commandments of their god. In free nations, the people are superior to the secular state. But in totalitarian systems, the state is supreme over all citizens whose personal freedom is not important vs. the desires of the elites who run the government. If President Barack Obama believes in anything, he believes in the power of the state to reign supreme over all citizens as long as his elite cadre can dictate all policy and they are good because they want to use that power as an engine for social reform to do good things. The idea that they might be wrong or overstepping their power does not often enter into their thinking. Gay people have a right to march in a Gay Pride parade as long as they do not harm other people. But they do not have the right to demand that all other people must endorse their parades and that is what the Obama government is demanding with official policy. Your freedom to disagree with the government is not important to Obama because only he knows what is best for you.
