Five were killed and eight injured during another weekend of violence on Chicago's streets, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Sunday.
Among the violent incidents, Saturday afternoon two men were on a porch in the 4900 block of West Washington in Austin when a gunman approached them and opened fire, striking both men in the chest, the report says.
Jamel Shepard, 39, who lived at the home, was dead at the scene, authorities said. Darnell Walker, 55, of the 7100 block of South Euclid, was also killed.
Earlier Saturday, at 2:43 a.m., police found John Kouzios, 33, of the 3000 block of South Kedvale, dead and Jose Galvin, 42, critically wounded after they were shot multiple times in a vehicle that hit a tree in the 2500 block of South Kildare, authorities said.
Galvin, of the 4200 block of West 26th Street, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later died, the medical examiner’s office said.
At 2:30 a.m., William Cook, 19, was shot in the chest in his home in the 6200 block of South Talman, the medical examiner’s office said.
At 8:15 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of West 113th Place, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the right forearm, police said. The boy was taken in stable condition to Metro South Medical Center in Blue Island.
At 9:53 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot in the left buttock in the Pullman neighborhood. The teen and another person were standing on the sidewalk in the 12100 block of South Emerald when a light-colored vehicle passed by and shots were fired, police said.
A 3 year old boy was also injured Friday night when walking with an older male and female.
