Saturday, 72 yr old Congressman Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts) married his longtime partner, 42 yr old Jim Ready. The Hill reports -
The wedding, which was held in Newton Mass. and officiated by Gov. Deval Patrick (D), was attended by 300 family and friends, said a statement from Frank’s office.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and fellow Reps. Al Green (D-Texas) and Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) were among the guests, according to media reports.
Frank, who was the first openly gay member of Congress, announced in November he would retire after 16 terms in the House. In January, he announced his plans to marry Ready in Massachusetts, one of the six states that have legalized same-sex marriage.
