A new Super PAC plans to spend several hundred thousand dollars in Illinois before the March 20 primary to unseat three long-serving members of Congress from the Chicago area. The Campaign for Primary Accountability, a Houston-based group with more than $1.6 million cash on hand, is targeting Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., (D); Rep. Judy Biggert, (R); and Rep. Donald Manzullo, (R).
The group's major funders include Joe Ricketts, the Denver-based founder of TD Ameritrade and father of Chicago Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts. He gave $500,000 last year. Another major contributer is Eric O'Keefe, a private investor from rural Wisconsin who chairs the Chicago-based Sam Adams Alliance, a think tank that studies the tea party movement and other activist groups.
