In the last South Carolina debate, Newt Gingrich apparently scored a major blow for conservatives when he lashed out at CNN's John King, and more importantly ABC. He claimed ABC wasn't "interested" in people that the Gingrich campaign offered to the network to dispute his ex-wife's allegation. He stated that ABC would "like to attack any Republican". That problem is that he was wrong. The campaign did not offer up anyone other than his daughters from his first marriage.
National media bias against conservatives is real. But if someone claims it falsely, it weakens our argument when it really occurs. Newt Gingrich played the "media card" to his benefit. Unfortunately, it was to the detriment of true conservatives.
