ROUND LAKE - Lennie Jarratt is one of four Republicans running to succeed State Senator Suzi Schmidt (R) in the primary election. Jarrett is a local Tea Party favorite and is focused on working to make Illinois' budget make sense, as well as improving our state's failing education system. In Part 2 of the interview, Jarratt talks with Illinois Review about his interest in education reform, his family's choice in educating their two daughters and his personal focus on changing Illinois' government accounting system:
IR: So the problems you found while paying attention to your local school board is questionable behavior in elections and also in budgeting, correct?
IR: What needs to be done first to correct the budgeting issue?
IR: What in your background created this focus on budgets? (apology for mic noise)
IR: How did education become a focus for you and your work with the Lake County Tea Party?
IR: Education is a statewide concern ...
IR: If you were elected as senator, what's the first thing you'd do to correct Illinois' education system? And then the budget?
IR: This is a difficult time to be in Springfield. The situation seems hopeless to many. You're interested in taking on that challenge now?
The concluding Part 3 of our Interview with Lennie Jarratt will be coming soon...
