An Illinois panel wants us all to go green, but says it needs to raise our license plate fees to start encouraging people to do so.
The Electric Vehicle Advisory Panel is suggesting a one dollar increase in fees to help pay for rebates and grants for alternate fuel vehicles. That would bring the cost of a standard license plate renewal to a hundred dollars a year. The panel says it hopes to get a hundred thousand electric vehicles on Illinois roads within the next three years.
