Wendell Hutson of the Examiner.com is reporting that a White House source is saying President Obama is considering attending the Dec. 6 sentencning for fellow Democrat and former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. According to Hustson, the president has already altered his schedule on that day to make it easier for him to attend. Said the source:
"He wants to be there to see the look in his (Rod Blagojevich) eyes when his sentence is handed down," said a White House source, who asked to remain annoymous. "There are some security concerns but if those can be worked out he is seriously trying to attend.
It is impossible to determine if Obama wants to support his old friend and ally, or if he wants to take political advantage of Blago's misfortune. The latter seems very likely given the character of Mr. Obama.
