UPDATE: New Republican primaries appear on Illinois State Board of Elections' website ...
Besides the 3-way GOP primary in Sam McCann's Senate district and the 33rd State Senate district between Karen McConnaughay and Cliff Surges, more GOP State Senate primary races are popping up as candidate petitions are submitted on the first day of filing. In Will County's 49th Senate District, there's a 3-way primary:
As discussed previously on IR, there's a GOP primary in the 51st State Senate District:
In the 53rd State Senate District, freshman State Rep. Jason Barickman (R-Champaign), who was appointed to fill State Senator Shane Cultra's (R-Onarga) House seat when Cultra moved to the Senate, is now challenging Barickman's predecessor for his Senate seat.
In the 81st State House District, State Senator Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) has decided to go for his district's House seat rather than challenge Seate Minority Leader Christine Radogno (R-Lemont). The Democrats remapped Sandack and Radogno into the same district earlier this year. Sandack has a GOP primary opponent for the 81st House District, Downers Grove's Deborah Boyle:
State Senator Carole Pankau (R-Itasca) will be challenged by DuPage County GOP Chairman and State Rep. Randy Ramey (R-Carol Stream) in the new 23rd Senate District.
State Senator Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) is being challenged by freshman State Rep. Chris Nybo (R-Elmhurst) for the new 24th Senate District:
There will be two, perhaps three, vying for the new 25th State Senate district. Monday, Sugar Grove's Richard Slocum and Batavia's Dave Richmond filed petitions. Former Congressional candidate Jim Oberweis confirmed a few weeks ago that he is circulating petitions to be the third candidate in this race. The only Democrat filing for the race today was Corinne Pierog from St. Charles, IL.
After State Senator Suzi Schmidt (R-Round Lake) announced she would not seek re-election, Round Lake Beach's Lennie Jarratt and Grayslake's Larry Leafblad began circulating petitions and will run for the 31st State Senate district's 2012 GOP nomination.
The 58th State House District's GOP nominee will be decided between two Lake Forest residents - Mark Neerhof and Lauren Turelli.
The new 106th House District has three Republicans filing to be on the March 20, 2012 ballot - Watseka's Josh Harms, Gibson City's Tom Bennett and Pontiac's Scott McCoy.
More to come ...
