Thanks to Illinois Review reader Dawn Larson for letting us know that last Saturday's Winnebago County Republican Party straw poll participants supported former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as their presidential choice for the 2012 GOP Primary nominee:
- Newt Gingrich 32
- Ron Paul 20
- Herman Cain 17
- Mitt Romney 15
- Michele Bachmann 8
- Rick Perry 4
- Jon Huntsman, Jr. 1
- Rick Santorum 1
We have no more details as to who was allowed to vote, how many times voters were allowed to cast a vote, how many attended, but chose not to cast a vote. Will follow up as we learn more. Kudos to Dawn for giving us a heads up!
