ST. CHARLES - All out intra-party war appears to have been declared in Kane County in the GOP primary between Geneva mayor Kevin Burns and State Senator Chris Lauzen for the Kane County Board Chairmanship. Burns announced today Republican Party chairman Pat Brady has agreed to head up his primary campaign.
The county's current Chairman Karen McConnaughay is running for State Senator in the 33rd District. She faces two opponents: retired pilot Chad Koppie and attorney Cliff Surges. Lauzen appears to have aligned with Congressman Joe Walsh in the 14th CD GOP primary. The district's current Congressman, also running for re-election, is Republican Randy Hultgren.
From the St. Charles Patch:
Kevin Burns announced today that Pat Brady, chairman of the Illinois Republican Party and Kane County resident, has signed on as chairman for his campaign to head the Kane County Board.
In a statement to Burns and his supporters, Brady said, “I am honored to be working with Mayor Burns as he seeks to be elected chairman of the Kane County Board.”
