Associated Press is reporting that today in the Daily Herald that there's a protest in front of the Capitol today opposing tax cuts for Sears.
Students, parents, teachers and administrators from Carpentersville-based Community Unit District 300 protest outside the Illinois Capitol in Springfield against extending tax breaks for Sears, based in Hoffman Estates.
So let's get this straight. With the tax breaks, Sears stays and they lose some of their revenue. But without tax breaks, Sears leaves Hoffman Estates and property taxpayers are stuck holding the bag, or the school district's cut from Sears revenue is slashed to $0. What are we missing here?
Daily Herald's featuring this video from today, too.
