Ever since Aug. 29, 2008 when Sen. John McCain introduced Gov. Sarah Palin in Dayton, Ohio as his running mate, a large segment of main stream media seemed to go hysterical. That news cycle was supposed to be devoted only to the after glow from the Obama acceptance speech extravaganga the night before in Denver and the media script definitely did not include letting Palin steal the spotlight for a day. MSM reporters, producers, pundits, and anchors exploded with an almost instantaneous irrational hostility toward the entire Palin family.
Even today, elites on both the Left and Right hate Sarah Palin mainly for who she is and not for any specific flaw in her policies or character. If Palin has no credibility as a canidate, then what is the MSM so afraid of? She is only competing for attention in the free marketplace of ideas, and that is not a crime.
But the elites sense mortal danger from Palin to the foundation of their sub-culture. They have a lot to lose when any political leader ignores them as irrelevant or treats them like the narcissistic intellectual pretenders that so many of them really are. Elitists and their obesquious acolytes in MSM worship at the secular altar of Power and they cannot afford to have someone from outside their spehere of influence get a foothold among a large segment of voters .
Thinking about the latest incredible effort to fine comb thousands of Palin emails with almost nothing to show for it, I am beginning to wonder if their mindless obsession with Palin is really a form of class warfare by proxy?
The Elites hate the the middle class value system that is indigenous to the fly-over country that Palin represents. Power, in the form of financial, cultural, and political dominance, on both the East and West coasts, is the secular God of most elitists. Power is also a jealous God that does not want any other Gods before it either, least of all the God of Abraham.
Elites have labored hard for many years to undermine the God of Abraham in the public square. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy sided with the framers when he said "our rights come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God." Many Left-Wing Democrats today could not agree with that JFK declaration because they worship a secular God who they think will lead them to a socialist Utopia. The religious cultural values of Sarah Palin stand in solid opposition to the superstitions of socialism that so many wannabe elitists have sworn their supreme allegiance to. For the elites, hating Sarah Palin is the last form of safe hatred that is not impaired by the usual political correctness. For the elites, it is OK to hate Sarah and their hatred need not be justified by any specific grievance at all. Palin is their enemy just because she rejects them and for no other deeper reason. Attacks on Palin as a politician or personally are safe because they can camouflage attacks on the middle class in America that refuses to worship before the icons of socialist Utopia.
