During his second time vying to oust his longtime incumbent State Representative Jay Hoffman, businessman Dwight Kay of Glen Carbon emerged victorious Tuesday night. With reports of Kay knocking on some district doors three times during the course of the year, the 63 year old trucking business exec had younger colleagues shaking their heads in amazement at his determination and commitment to winning. He won the 112th district race with 52 percent of the vote.
Kay was on a mission started in 2008, when he first tried to oust one of impeached governor Rod Blagojevich's closest allies.
Illinois Review featured Kay in a profile post in July of 2008, and it will give you an idea of the quality of new Republican House members that will be sworn in next January. As conservatives, we think you'll be encouraged. Anyone that lost this time around, take note. Sometimes it take two times to win.
