Illinois' own Dr. Eric Wallace reprimands fellow black Americans in a recent controversial Freedom Journal's Magazine column for the community's misguided devotion to Democrats. He compares voting for Democrats to Pavlov's conditioning experiments:
The same, I believe, can be said for African Americans who have continuously blindly given their loyalty to the Democrat Party. They vote the democrat party without even thinking about it. Many Blacks have been conditioned to believe that Democrats are for Blacks, and conversely, Republicans are not, regardless of the evidence (see the article The Myth of the Racist Republicans). Just the mention of supporting a Republican candidate for many Blacks is met with an emotional reaction that is unwarranted. The natural reaction to racism (stimulus) has been associated with the Republican Party (non-stimulus). Hence, racial mistrust and outright disgust has been transferred from racism to the Republicans party.
And Wallace says the United States Congressional Black Caucus isn't really as "black" as it is "Democrat." In a column entitled "Pavlov's Negro," Wallace explains HERE.
Is Dr. Wallace right, or is he insulting members of his own racial community with this op-ed? Your thoughts.
