Barack Hussein Obama’s attempt to have it both ways on the trophy mosque at Ground Zero has inspired much head scratching and chin pulling by the wise analysts in the LSM, and as usual, they couldn’t be more clueless if they just arrived here from another galaxy. Of course, Barry wants to appear to vote present on this issue, just as he has on so-called “same sex” marriage, to appeal to the disengaged and distracted.
Recall his schizo position there: California’s Proposition 8, which helpfully defines “marriage,” a term that was perfectly understood for 5000 years as a union of a man and a woman until some militant social misfits decided to use the courts to work out their confidence and self-esteem issues, is “mean-spirited,” and, yes, he agrees with its mean-spirited definition.
Last Friday, before he hosted a dinner to celebrate Ramadan, he all but volunteered to participate in the groundbreaking for the GZ Mosque, bravely defending a position that virtually no one opposes by declaring his absolute support for freedom of religion. This guy has more straw men than have appeared in every staging, cinematic or theatrical, of “The Wizard of Oz.” Then the very next day, issued his “nuanced” clarification, explaining that he never said it was a great idea, just that the parties involved had the right to do it. Some of his media cheerleaders have greeted his statements as not only evidence of his tremendous courage, but also unyielding commitment to protecting private property rights, a position for which all radical leftists are well-known.
I suppose he would respond to protests over people roasting their puppies and kittens and serving them for dinner by adamantly defending their right to dispose of their property as they wish, and then, when challenged state “well, I never said that they SHOULD do that, only that they can.” This morning his junior mouthpiece Bill Burton said the boss’s comments have nothing to do with politics, which can mean only one thing: they are all about politics.
As we discussed yesterday on the Teri O’Brien show, while it’s true that Barry’s comments were designed to energize his dispirited left-wing moonbat base, it’s not as if he had to leave his ideological comfort zone to make them. Jeremiah Wright’s parishioner of 20 years, friend of unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, and former member of the New Party believes that racist, imperialist Amerika probably brought 9/11 on herself, as he explained at the time while he was a state senator. Is it any wonder that he and his attorney general are considering trying the mastermind of the slaughter of 3000 innocents in New York City, spending millions from Americans to provide a stage from which this malignant murderer can rave about our many sins?
Not only does endorsing this taunting finger in the eye eyesore conform to the Dear Reader’s philosophy, it carries potential political benefits. One is obvious; that is, the afore-mentioned firing up of the extreme left, not necessarily for the mid terms, but for 2012. Less obvious is the fact that it hands Republicans an issue that will benefit them in the midterm election, and could make it more difficult for Democrats, which is exactly what he wants. Barack Obama’s nightmare is a Congress controlled by Democrats, especially with a smaller majority than he has now. His dream is a Congress that he can blame for his many failures, and use as a foil; that is, one controlled by Republicans. What better way to enhance his standing with the radical, American-hating Left and make things tougher for Democrat candidates than to do what comes naturally and back the trophy mosque?
Conspiratorial? Perhaps, but in the Age of Obama, as Lily Tomlin famously said, just when you think you’re being too cynical, you realize that you can’t keep up.
