A Rasmussen poll today shows that 57% of Illinoisans think impeached Governor Rod Blagojevich should go to jail. While that's an overwhelming majority of the pool from which the trial jurors were selected, that 57% shows Illinoisans aren't as sure he should go to jail as they were a year ago.
Rasmussen polled shortly after Blagojevich's December 2008 arrest and his January 2009 impeachment, and at that time 79% of Illinoisans thought Blagojevich should go to jail. Men, the poll says, are more adamant about jailtime than women and younger voters are more inclined to want to see him end up in jail than those over 40.
So, is it possible that the Blagojevich "victim" approach will sway jurors? That he didn't see anything wrong with his requests for political favors to be anything out of the ordinary -- similar to George Ryan's COS Scott Fawell pleaded during his trial? That it was "the way things are done in Illinois"?
Your thoughts ... do you think Blagojevich should go to jail?
