Holly Rosenkrants of BusinessWeek wrote yesterday about how Andy Stern, president of SEIU (the second-largest labor union in the U.S.) responded to the recent Supreme Court decision to allow corporate contributions in campaigns. Stern wailed: “This is a moral disaster, it is a policy disaster and it is a practical disaster. This is going to bring an onslaught, if nothing changes, of an unlimited corporatization of our economy.”
According to the article, Anna Burger, secretary-treasurer of the SEIU and president of labor federation Change to Win, said "companies have 'lots and lots' of money to spend on the political process, while unions don’t."
Stern also put cross-hairs on Senators Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson saying “There are a lot of terrorists in the Senate who think we are supposed to negotiate with them when they have their particular needs that they want met.”
