Bloomberg reports this afternoon that over 800 protesters gathered in front of Sterling High School this afternoon, voicing opposition to Obama's plan to transfer terrorists held in Guatanamo Bay, Cuba to the Thomson Correctional Center.
“I don’t want terrorists in my backyard,” said Diane Bishop, 52, a real estate appraiser who drove two hours from her suburban Chicago home to attend the hearing at a high school in Sterling, Illinois. “It’s too close to home. They shouldn’t be in the United States.”
The hearing started at 2:00 PM and with 50 persons signed up to testify, it is expected to go into the evening hours.
