from the Vargas for Congress campaign
“Throughout Aurora, Carpentersville, Dixon, Oswego, West Dundee, and the rest of the 14th District, voters are united against Government run health care,” stated Mark Vargas, Republican Candidate for the 14th Congressional District. Congressman Bill Foster ran as a fiscal and pragmatic moderate. However, his votes have betrayed his constituents. Yesterday, Foster proved his alliance with the hard left and Nancy Pelosi.
Mark Vargas vows “I will make fighting this bill a top priority. My staff and I will be meeting with officials in Washington, Representative Foster’s staff, and staff members in the U.S. Senate. As your elected representative, I will lead the charge to repeal this bill.”
Despite coming from a fiscally responsible district, Bill Foster has voted for the mishandled $787 Billion Porkulus, the unpopular TARP bill, sent $4 Billion tax dollars to ACORN, and now helped pass the most expensive tax and spend bill in history.
Massive, inefficient programs like a Government takeover of the healthcare industry are not the answers Illinois voters are looking for. You can help make Washington fiscally responsible again by voting for Mark Vargas (IL-14) in the Republican primary on February 2nd, 2010.

So will Randy Hultgren, the main difference being Randy Hultgren has a track record of winning elections and a solid conservative record to prove it. Vargas should consider throwing his support to Hultgren so he won't split the anti-Hastert vote in the primary.

Vargas is untested, and Hultgren has had elected office but hasnt done anything with it. Hes a seat filler and that is it.

Vargas is a no-talent hack who once shook hands with Rumsfeld at a cocktail party and now things he can bring the entire Pacific Fleet in to fundraise for him. He's a wild-eyed kid who's lost touch to reality because he's let himself be talked up by political operatives who want the paycheck, not the win.

I talked to one of Vargas head guys at the Young Republican State meeting conference yesterday and he said all the people working for him were volenteers and not paid.

Hey the Truth -- are you from Hastert or Purcell's campaign? I can't imagine Hultgren would have someone like you on his campaign.
Vargas is not as green as you want him to be. He's done a lot for a young person and should be treated with some respect.

I agree with Billy that Hultgren brings a lot to the table. I can also see a victory scenario for Purcell as well. He has a strong record in business,is married with children, and has a good community involvement record in coaching youth sports.

Vargas can win too now that he has gone through puberty 2 years ago! Let's be fair!

so whos campaign are you working for zahm?
Posted by: jon | Sunday, November 08, 2009 at 07:15 PM
did this guy even file with the FEC? this campaign is just a joke or an ego-feeder unless he can raise a minimum $100k.
Posted by: easy | Sunday, November 08, 2009 at 07:21 PM
whats the benchmark of 100k mean? What does he need it for?
Posted by: jon | Sunday, November 08, 2009 at 07:54 PM
What does Vargas need with $100K? Simple, to get his message out to the Republican primary electorate between now and February 2nd.
While I'm no big fan of Ethan Hastert, unless one of the other major 14th Republican candidates steps up their fundraising, Ethan Hastert will be the next congressman in the 14th.

so, you only believe in the person that raises the most money? I do not get it. I'm really new to politics, but it seems like to me that money would be a negative thing. Wouldn’t that person be in debt to a lot of people/corporations? Hasn’t the advance of social media and beyond better than buying commercials, etc? Isn’t that what obama did? I mean, really, isn’t it possible to run on no money?

Guys don't forget that Randy Hultgren has a 'track record' of voting for unbalanced budgets and raising our sales taxes. Do you drink soda? Do you use toothpaste? Randy is not the conservative he claims to be.

"jon"
Who are you? What District do you live in? Who do you work for?
I am not working for any candidate in the 14th. I have helped Hultgren and Purcell. I believe they are the two best options. I rank Danklefsen next, then Vargas, then Hastert.
Sign your full name next time, big guy, if you want to ask personal questions of other people.

sorry, live in oswego, fresh out of college, majored in political science from UoI. this is my first election actually following what is going on, so i have alot of questions. sorry to come off as pushy, I was just asking.
if you dont mind answering, why dont you like hastert. I have talked to a bunch of people that dont like him, i am just wondering, you dont have to answer if you do not wish.

"jon",
I worked two years at Oswego East HS and helped elect the LeClercq/Giles/Michels team in 2007 so I like Oswego.
Ethan Hastert is new in the district. He was a Romney asst. delegate in the 2008 election out of Chicago. He has little community service in the 14th. No public service record here either. Supports his dad's Prairie Parkway pork project that destroys homes and farmland.etc.
I suggest you look at Hultgren and Purcell.

Also look at Hultgren's voting record..voted for video gaming, largest tax increase in 2009 in Il.and voted against SB600... he is a real Republican. Purcell has not worked for anyone in the 14th before. He never voted in the 14th. Why was his home on the market? GREAT guys to take on Foster.
Posted by: reformer | Monday, November 09, 2009 at 08:09 AM
Actually Purcell voted in the 14th in 2008.
Ethan Hastert voted out of Chicago in 2008. Jim's home was on the market because he was trying trying to downsize costs. The home was listed for $659,000 so he must have had some success in business to afford to buy it in the first place. Hultgren's voting record is very good, though he has some bad votes, as all legislators do. he has far fewer than almost all of them down there. He is now a co-sponsor of SB 600.

speaking of purcell, i love his new way of trying to get free press. He actually wants other people to pick on him. Hastert is so far ahead, why would he ever give lip service to someone like purcell? haha.

Jon... Randy voted against SB600 end of story. He voted for video gaming and the largest tax increase in 2009. Jim did not vote in the special election or the primary while he has lived in the 14th. Another bad choice for you. I think many of folks have over spent on homes and now we want to send them to Congress?
Posted by: reformer | Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 02:14 PM
Jon.. was the that same bill he was co-sponsor on and then voted against now is co-sponsor again? So he is a co-sponsor of a bill he voted against? What about that video gaming and tax increase? And as far as Jim goes he has and will do nothing in the 14th. He didn't vote in the special or the primary and he was living here.

why is no one talking about Hasterts multiple dui convictions? Seems stupid watching the little guys pick on each other when they really dont have a chance against the machine.
