from the Schillerstrom for Governor campaign
NAPERVILLE – Bob Schillerstrom on Monday thanked the Milton Township Republican Organization for its support in the 2010 Straw Poll for Governor last weekend, where the candidate won more than 50 percent of the vote in a field of seven candidates and solidified suburban support in a region with more than 118,000 residents and 25,000 Republican voters.
The victory by Schillerstrom follows endorsements from 8 of the 9 DuPage County Township Republican Organization Chairmen, and 60 of the county’s 72 Township government officials.
“From Carbondale to Chicagoland, voters have watched Springfield scare employers and jobs from the state, spend dollars they don’t have and earn a national reputation for corruption – we all know it needs to change,” said Schillerstrom, the only Republican candidate running for Governor with Executive experience and a record of running lean, efficient government. “We also know that change will not just happen. It only comes with new leadership, and that is why residents across the state are embracing the fresh voice and proven leadership our campaign offers.”
Support in DuPage County is particularly important to Schillerstrom given that 15-year State Sen. Kirk Dillard and hopeful Adam Andrzejewski have already filed petitions for Governor, and 2002 Gubernatorial nominee Jim Ryan is expected to file today for yet another run for office. Each of the candidates call DuPage County home, though Schillerstrom is the only one working in local government to address community challenges.
Given a population of nearly 1 million residents and a strong Republican tradition, DuPage County is seen as a must-win for GOP candidates running for statewide office. In fact, Milton Township alone is home to 118,000 residents, and is larger than 87 of 102 Illinois counties. Schillerstrom noted that encouragement from DuPage leaders and constituents made an enormous difference in his choice to seek the Republican nomination for Governor in 2010.
“Our campaign is based on the idea that we can change the results from Springfield if we change the way it approaches spending, job creation and transparency,” he said. “That is what Illinois voters believe, even if their leaders turn a deaf ear to the argument. I offer a proven approach to government that focuses on results and not promises – and I appreciate the growing number of voters supporting and working to spread our message.”
Schillerstrom support in Milton Township was clear:
Candidate: Vote Total:
Bob Schillerstrom 142
Kirk Dillard 37
Adam Andrzejewski 36
Bill Brady 27
Jim Ryan 13
Dan Proft 6
Andy McKenna 2

Bob beat Dillard in his own county, does Dillard have any support, OH! that's right he endorsed Obama in an ad for president...and how did that work for our country. Go Bob!

The statement you say Bob that you offer a proven approach that focues on results and not promises is exactly what Illinois needs. So many candidates just promise and are just talk. And you stand on priciple with integrity. Best of luck in you campaign for Governor, you have my vote.

Isn't Bob the Dupage County Board Chairman who would be surprised he has who support there?
Some of the others support is interesting Ryan who is suppose to be leading? Adam who from up state and barely beats Brady?

Dillard, Ryan and Adam are all from DuPage. Schillerstom didn't just win that straw poll, he dominated. Give him his props.

Milton Twp. chose RINO combiner Mark Kirk as their overwheming favorite for Senator and chose RINO combiner Bob Schillerstrom as their overwheming favorite for Governor. Hmmm. I think I see a pattern here.

Bob Who?

Bob may be a bit liberal, but he's quite an impressive guy. Much more than someone screaming about SB600 or reminiscing about Edgar.

142 for Bob, DuPage chose Schillerstrom. There is no pattern. And I agree with the overwhelming favorite part Billy Boy.

This was the 'Most Interesting Leader' Bob's moment in the sun... too bad it won't last.

Mark Kirk and Bob Schillerstrom both won the straw poll? That is really pushing things. Why would would we get crazy and nominate TWO viable statewide candidates in the same election year?
We should probably hold off on either Kirk or Schillerstrom to be safe. We don't want to make Mike Madigan suspicious that Republicans figured out how to win statewide general elections. He'd be mad. I mean really mad!

Everyone knows the biggest issue concerning Illinois right now is the disastrous budget. Is it any surprise that someone who can actually balance a budget and not waste taxpayers money is popular? Just look at his track record, it's a no brainer.

Vladimir,
Don't you know the most important thing we can do for this state is put GOP State Committeemen on the ballot? Just like Mike Madidgan!
Unless you agree, you are not legit. Forget actual accomplishment. Adam is the way to go!

Hmm...the same group that asked for $600 to speak...sounds like a shakedown. Bob and Adam were the two schmucks that paid it. Milton Twshp had already tacitly endorsed Schillerstrom. No big surprise.

Schillerstrom, McKenna and Dillard are the status quo. The status quo has run the state into a ditch. Once elected these guys will offend none of the insiders or power brokers. Nothing will change. They will take pictures and cut ribbons. These guys are as light and as bland as rice cakes.
IL can no longer afford their style of "leadership" , as if we ever could.

Jaded - but Brady and Ryan are not the status quo? Really? Let me be the first to welcome you to the State of Illinois. The weather is great, taxes are low, politicians are honest; you'll love it here.

When listening to Schillerstrom's voice in his radio ads it sounds familiar. Is he the same guy who does those "Pie Rush Wednesday" ads for Baker's Square?
