from the House Republican Organization (HRO)
SCHAUMBURG, Illinois. Joined by House Republican Leader Tom Cross, Schaumburg Township Republican Committeeman Mike Adelizzi, Bloomingdale Township Republican Chairman John Dabrowski and local elected officials, Ryan Higgins officially launched his campaign for State Representative from the 56th District.
“Ryan Higgins represents the next generation of leaders for Illinois,” said House Republican Leader Tom Cross. “To move Illinois in a new direction, we need people with fresh ideas, new approaches and a commitment to the people they serve. Ryan embodies everything we need in new leadership to help address the substantial problems created during the last 7 years of Democrat rule in Illinois.”
Earlier this year, Higgins was endorsed by the Schaumburg Township Republican Organization, securing over 60% of the vote by precinct captains.
“Ryan impressed our organization with his energy and enthusiasm,” said Schaumburg Township Committeeman Mike Adelizzi. “We are enthusiastically endorsing him and working for him. He is the right candidate at the right time to win back this seat.”
Higgins said one of his top priorities when he gets to Springfield will be to begin the process of significant budget and ethical reforms to state government.
“Change will require a fresh wave of Republican reformers in the General Assembly, starting right here in the 56th District,” said Higgins. “The 2010 elections offer us an unprecedented opportunity for reform, and with hard work and a positive vision, we can and will put Illinois back on a path toward prosperity.”
Higgins is a 28-year-old healthcare attorney and former staff member of former U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald. Ryan graduated from Dartmouth College and the Duke University School of Law. He is a 5-year resident of Schaumburg and a 21-year resident of Palatine, where he attended St. Theresa Catholic School and William Fremd High School.

Congratulations to Ryan! He is exactly what Springfield needs: a principled vision and fresh ideas.

Having a qualified young candidate who doesn't owe anybody anything, ensures that he will do what is best for his constituency. It is encouraging to see the GOP take a fresh approach.

What an exciting candidate to support. He is a cornerstone for rebuilding this state and making Illinois a state to envy rather than a state that is the punch line for jokes. He will be a thoughtful legislator in Springfield; a force to be reckoned with.

Ryan's passion to do the right things for Illinois coupled with his energy and drive are just what we need. As a local business owner for over 30 years, I can say that his goal to foster job creation, the essential of a healthy economy, will help lead Illinois back to prosperity.

Also Ryan's a friend to organized dentistry and by extension the rest of the medical community as his father's a dentist. His dad, Dr. Mike Higgins has a long career within the Illinois Dental Society and will be a valuble asset in an organization filled with too many lawyers.

The GOP needs rebuilding and I can't imagine a better cornerstone for a strong and lasting foundation! Ryan will help bring Illinois out of 20th century politics of hand-washing and pocket-filling. With a strong moral character, a head for facts, and a creative mind, I believe Ryan will do what is best for the people of Illinois.
