from the Meers for Congress campaign
The announcement that Rep. Debbie Halvorson will vote for the Democrat health plan with a public option drew sharp criticism from GOP congressional candidate, Henry Meers.
Using terms often applied to Mafia operatives, Meers called Halvorson a “made member” of the Chicago political machine. Her obedience to the ‘dons’ of the Chicago “mob,” whether they be in City Hall or the White House, is legendary,” said Meers.
Meers said her vote shows two things – that they are desperate for every vote they can get and that Halvorson is a classic Democrat machine operative who will put her party ahead of the people when given a choice.
Meers explained that many times, in districts were a vote would be unpopular, Democrat leaders will give their legislators a “pass,” meaning they can vote against the party leadership because the do not need the votes to win.
“Because of the strong opposition to the Obama/Pelosi heath plan among her voters, she would normally get a ‘pass,’ but they need her vote. So, she does what a loyal solder must do – obey orders,” Meers charged.
Meers said that Halvorson’s promise to vote for government takeover of private healthcare is a slap in the face to the people who elected her to represent them – Democrats and Republicans alike.
Meers said that Halvorson ignores the fact that her district produced the largest Tea Party rally in the nation outside of Washington. “This will not be forgotten by those good people,” Meers added.
According to Meers, “We are seeing ‘the Chicago way’ played out on Capitol Hill.”
Meers said that this vote on health care alone should be sufficient reason to remove Halvorson from office – and the sooner the better,” Meers concluded.

Good luck breaking 10% hank.

I agree with you, but I will be supporting Adam Kinzinger.

My phone call to her DC office today was met by an aggressive attempt to get my name, district, address, etc.Certainly a ploy just to deflect my reason for calling since I am sure all of that info is readily available before picking up the call. I mentioned the 11th district constituents majority is a negative opinion on govt. healthcare and cap and trade.I also raised the fact of where was she all summer? She sent her "aid" to represent her in any public event and I would hardly call the "pick and choose" phone conferences a "public" forum. I will be waiting for ACORN interrogators and a notice from the IRS. If our republic survives the "mob", next Nov. will see a new Rep. in the 11th district for sure.

Meers makes a good point about the tea party in New Lenox last summer. I was there, it was huge and those people will not forget that Meers was the only challenger to call her out on Cap and Trade and now a real bad healthcare bill.

Lester B.
You may not be aware of it but I have been "calling out" Halvorson since before she was in office as a Congressman.
I have also been warning 11th district voters of her hard left voting record in the State Senate as a private citizen for years now.
I have been to most if not all of the Tea Party's in the 11th District since April. And one thing is very clear, American Citizens are tired of politicians and power brokers tell us what we can or can not do.
It was and is easy to predict what Halvorson will vote for and I have said so. She is way out of sync with the 11th district and I will continue to point that out as I have for years.
But now I get the privilege of doing that as her main opponent.
It is way over time to return to the values that made America great and what 80%+ of Americans believe.
Thank you,

David, what makes you her main opponent opposed to the other two candidates? Unfortunately, money matters in races of this magnitude.
