Illinois Review has received a letter (see below) sent out by Paul Caprio on behalf of his Family PAC Federal organization. In it, Caprio endorses Pat Hughes for U.S. Senate, and states again that "virtually every leading conservative in the state" has already endorsed Hughes.
In addition, he calls upon John Arrington and Eric Wallace - the only two African American candidates out of the ten Republicans said to be circulating petitions - to "drop out of the race for U.S. Senate and endorse the candidacy of Patrick Hughes."
LETTER FROM PAUL CAPRIO
Family PAC Federal
Patrick Hughes for U.S. Senate
I think it has become quite clear to any objective Illinois conservative that the only realistic chance of defeating Mark Kirk in the upcoming Republican Senate Primary lies with Patrick Hughes.
That’s why Family PAC Federal, along with virtually every leading conservative in the state including Sandy Rios WYYL Talk 1160, Penny Pullen, Marry Anne Hackett Catholic Citizens of Illinois, Rev. Bob Vanden Bosch Concerned Christian Americans, Ralph Rivera Illinois Citizens For Life PAC, Irene Napier McHenry County Right To Life, John Parrot McLean County Republican Chairman and former head of the Illinois Christian Coalition, Phyllis Schlafly Eagle Forum PAC and Kathleen Sullivan have already endorsed Patrick Hughes.
Patrick Hughes is the only conservative candidate in this race who has the potential to be adequately funded, to be able to communicate a strong pro-life, second amendment, anti-tax, pro-growth message across the state of Illinois in the weeks leading up to the Feb. 2 primary.
I know that we have a number of fine people, such as John Arrington and Eric Wallace, who are also campaigning for this office. None of these candidates have the ability to raise anything close to the amount of money that would be needed to mount a competitive challenge to Mark Kirk in February.
We conservatives are proud individuals by our very nature. However, a time comes when each of us needs to make sacrifices for what is in the best interest of the conservative movement in Illinois. I encourage both John Arrington and Eric Wallace today to drop out of the race for U.S. Senate and endorse the candidacy of Patrick Hughes. In so doing, they will prove that they have put the cause of limited government and pro-family values ahead of their own individual interests.
Sincerely yours,
Paul Caprio
