IR Reader John Ackerman reports from Bloomington that a conservative U.S. Senate candidate forum was held Saturday by the McLean County Republicans.
A straw pull vote was taken from everyone in attendance and the results are: Pat Hughes 40%, Cisco Cotto 28%, Judge Don Lowery 19%, John Arrington 9%, Robert Zadek 4% and then Eric Wallace. No one in attendance voiced support for Representative Mark Kirk.
Little is known about Pat Hughes, but we've heard that he was introduced to the conservative confab hosted by Paul Caprio a few weeks ago. Hughes reportedly has some personal wealth and is willing to jump start a well-financed challenge to the National Republican Senatorial Caucus' pick of Congressman Mark Kirk.
Ackerman reports the video of the forum will soon be made available on Illinois Review. We look forward to it ... More to come.
