Sunday at 2 PM, a third Republican will be announcing his bid to unseat Democrat Debbie Halvorson in the 11th CD. 63 year old businessman Henry Meers will kickoff his 2010 GOP primary campaign at his Frankfort home.
Meers will join two others who've made known their intention to regain Congressman Jerry Weller's seat -- Bloomington's Adam Kinzinger and Bourbannais' David McAloon.

I hope this will not be one of those McKenna "finance your own campaign, you amateur" deals
That District will require maximum organizational attention. Little Debbie plus the Rahmster can be beaten only if the team and the financing are right.

I support Adam unless some known state rep or state senator jumps in.
i just pray its not bloody primary and once nominee is chosen we get unified.

Meers is exactly the opposite of what we need in Illinois.
He's never actually won an election. The only competitive race he's been in has been for park board in Frankfort, where he LOST.
He has the personal charisma of a frog. He would lose soundly to Halvorson.
We can be do better in the 11th CD.

Really? Meers? I'm supporting Kinzinger and I think everyone else is too...

I like Kinzinger

I feel someone from the Joliet/ Will County area would have the best chance. Don't know that central Illinois has enough voters to carry.

David McAloon has a strong command of the issues and the longest and deepest conservative grassroots record of service.
Adam is from the wrong part of the district.

Ok, you cant say that you support David McAloon and then have any credibility left.
I'm guessing the primary will end 70% Kinzinger, 15% 15% for the also rans.

Well, John Zahm's revealing that he supports McAloon as the HRO once paid him to run one of his horrid campaigns. The only one of the 3 who has ever won an election is Kinzinger. I think some people will be a little surprised come the 15th of July when finance reports come out. McAloon and Meers with less than $10K and Kinzinger approaching $100K. URF and Il Gop is backing Kinzinger, you will be able to see it in the finance reports. This is in addition to Kankakee, Grundy, and McClain Cnty GOPs supporting Kinzinger. I like Dave but he just can't win. He has good views but so does Kinzinger. This race will be over next month.

I never ran David's campaign. I was a PT consultant with HRO helping David mix it up with Gordon. We kept her at home campaigning at least. Would have liked to get more than 36% in the general, but Gordon, like Mary Kay O'Brien before her, is very hard to beat in that district. I challenge another consultant or candidate to do any better against her in 2012.
Adam Kinzinger is a good guy, right on the issues. But he is DOA coming from the wrong part of the district to win the general. He is the favorite to win the primary but that is not reason enough for me to sell out a friend and activist like McAloon. That said, I am not a paid consultant to the Congressional race.
Kankakee GOP is backing Kinzinger because their Chair is working for Kinzinger as a Consultant. That is close to a corrupt arrangement and they are selling out McAloon who has done ten times more for that organization over the years than Raymer and Kinzinger combined.

What has McAloon ever done for the Kankakee GOP? I've been a committeeman for 10 years and he's only around helping when it's his own selfish interest.

most of these posts are funny, if you like one of the candidates fine support them.
You reveal who you are by the attacks on others.
Look at their records Facts! not lies of the spin artists.
We have had enough of the power grabber dropping the ball.
Good luck to all 3 in the primary, which by the way is the only thing that matters.

I have worked side by side Henry for the last nine years. He has paid his dues both in volunteering and financial contributions.
There is no other candidate running in the next primary that I trust more than Henry.
He is way ahead of the curve including the incumbent when it comes to representing our interests at the federal level.
