Rasmussen reports today HERE that Americans trust Republicans more than Democrats on eight of ten essential issues facing the nation.
Republicans in the Illinois House and Senate should pay particular attention to today's stats about taxes. Right now, Americans trust the GOP more than Democrats on the issue of taxes by a 6-point lead. Illinois Republicans should take note that if any Republican breaks loose from the thus-far- firm opposition to a state income tax hike next week when the ILGA returns to Springfield, those Republicans could ruin the GOP's re-emerging trustworthiness with one vote to raise income taxes.
The other national issues Republicans outrank Democrats on the economy, national security, War in Iraq, immigration, abortion, government ethics and Social Security. Democrats are trusted more slightly on health care and education.

Senator Matt Murphy is among one of the traitors. He co-sponsored HB0664 (95th G.A.), which has pushed alot of people out of their homes because the property taxes are just too high.
HB0664 removed a protective property tax cap in Cook County, then replaced it with a form of social engineering that favors classes of homeowners who've been around longest. The excess taxes get piled on to the people who bought in 2005 and 2006, after they've lost the equity in their homes since purchasing at the market's peak.
Isn't that right, Murphy?
(Notice that the Murphy campaign won't respond to me on here - they have nothing to counter with)

I wish I could agree that the GOP WON back trust on taxes, economy and six more issues.
I think it is more like the Dems lost it.
The Republican party needs to clean house and rid itself of the RINOs.

I don't mind taking on two at a time.
Remember, David, school property taxes are usually sixty to seventy percent of the property tax bill. Property taxes are too high because the property owners stayed home and chose not to take control of the schools at election time. They left that job up to the parents who had been cozzened by the school unions.
I could go on for pages on this, the tricky dick activities of the Cook County Assessor, etc.
Bob, I hate to say this but (and I agree with our logic) that the Democrats lost it to Republicans, a group which includes RINOs and Conservatives like you and I.
The problem baldly stated remains -- how do Conservatives throw out the RINOs (or even leave the party and form a new one) remain in the majority as a governing party.

Hi PeteSpeer,
I agree with you that the school districts are a significant part of the problem. But there are many, many parties involved before the tax bill arrives at your mailbox.
If you could go on for pages about the Cook County Assessor, I'd love to hear what you have to say. Could I ask you to email me what you have to crookedcountyillinois@yahoo.com...? I'd really appreciate your feedback on the Assessor.
And while you're at it, please take a look at my write-up on the Assessor posted to the ChicagoGOP site:

And feel free to comment on what you think.
