Illinois is apparently about to push a hard-charging RINO for the U.S. Senate...any chance the climate change (formerly called global warming, before it became apparent that cooling seems to be occurring) bill will still be there waiting for him? We, as citizens, could not get that lucky. No, the bill for which RINO jerk Mark Kirk voted will likely be gone before he has a chance to support it once again. Representative Kirk will miss the fun of helping to further harm American industry as John Kerry (D(u)-M(b)ass)and his pals intend.
Gigolo John and Babbs (call me senator, not ma'am) Boxer have job killing business to which they must attend when their commitees get their hands on the already bad bill. "Big Brother" Barry doesn't want countries like China to have to compete with American companies on a level playing field so John and Babbs are "reporting for duty!" From CQPolitics, "Senate Finance Likely to Alter Tariff in Climate Change Bill":
Senate negotiators plan to change a proposed import tariff in the House-passed climate change bill, a provision criticized last week by President Obama as a potential blow to free trade, Sen. John Kerry said Wednesday.
The tariff in the House cap-and-trade bill, passed nearly two weeks ago, would start in 2020 and target energy-intensive goods from certain countries that do not make carbon reduction commitments of their own, if the administration found that other U.S. efforts to minimize the impact of the new program on domestic firms had not worked.
The provision reflects lawmakers’ fears that Chinese firms could overwhelm U.S. companies if China fails to undertake carbon reduction plans of its own. Under the House language, insisted upon by Ways and Means Committee Democrats, the president could issue a tariff waiver if the administration thought it was in the national interest, but for the waiver to take effect, Congress would have to pass a joint resolution affirming it within 90 days.
You see, American jobs get lip service from the vile political droppings that litter our nation's capitol, but when the rubber meets the road, they would have their constituents (save the upper crust donors) standing at the off-ramp, begging for food as other nations speed by. It is unfortunate that Mark Kirk will not get to participate in fixing this bill in the Senate, but he should be consoled by the numbers. The Dimocrats have 60 seats, Snowe, and Collins, Mark... they don't need you!
Oh, I know Mark Kirk is a good Republican and he is just the type of RINO we are being told can win the Senate seat. People like me need to shut up and donate to his campaign. The man Politico labeled a "schemer" needs our support!Imagine what would happen if we did not support Mark Kirk for the GOP Senate nomination in Illinois. A conservative might slip in and ruin everything! We cannot, as citizens of Illinois, afford to have candidates for Senate who can be differentiated... other than the alphabetical party identifier, that is. How will Illinois politics maintain its tradition if we allow a conservative to win the nomination?
It is almost too bad that the financial impact of Jerk Kirk's vote won't be felt until after the election.

I don't see him getting elected. Based on cap and trade and his support for gun bans there is zero chance I vote for him.

You've got it right Sam. He isn't going to win against a real Democrat. He isn't going to win by backing causes that are crucially important to 90% of his base.
But we are going to hear from so many how we should rally behind so we can have a chance to win. To win what, I would ask? More disappointment and big government programs? Oh yeah that gets me excited, where do I sign up?
I'm sorry but I need more than the presence of the R after the name in order to get my support.

I don't see how u are RINO when u vote with your party 76% of time
But if u guys want to complain and not put forward a viable alternative who can WIN then its pointless

Rep. Kirk doesn't vote with his party 76% of the time. Here are some of his latest interest group ratings: NARAL, 100%; NEA, A; American Conservative Union, 40%; John Birch Society, 36%; Club for Growth, 19%; and Gun Owners of America, 0%. In 2004, he voted against a bill that would have required hospital employees to notify ICE employees, when they treat illegal aliens. He voted against an amendment that would have banned same-sex marriage. In 2007, when 11 republican congressmen went to the White House and told President Bush that they opposed the Iraq surge, Kirk was the group's leader.
Conservatives have a viable alternative, Dr. Eric Wallace. Please read his site, www.wallaceforillinois.com.

Mark Kirk is Illinois' answer to Dennis Kucinich. I wonder if they arrived here from same Mother Ship?

How this gets posted is beyond me. Are there no standards? "Rino Jerk" and calling Kerry a dumbass just take away from the argument. Grow up, and begin trying to win people over by stating facts and by showing which party has better ideas for America.

the 76% of time is not my numbers its according to CQPolitics which indicates he has voted with his party again 76% of time
I notice a lot Democrat trolls on this site nervous of Kirk
Wallace aka Alan Keyes lol

"Imagine what would happen if we did not support Mark Kirk for the GOP Senate nomination in Illinois. A conservative might slip in and ruin everything!"
Illinois Republicans tried it your way before. Remember Al Salvi? He ran for Senate and was the perfect candidate for wingnuts like you. Remember what happened to him? Here's a hint, there are no Senator Salvis. He went down in flames and thanks to him we have Dick Durbin.
If twits like you and Conservative Veteran pull your usual circular firing act, you're not gonna end up with the magical "real Republican" who will defeat the Democrats, outlaw abortion, prove evolution wrong and raise Ronald Reagan from the dead.
All your infighting will produce is Senator Giannoulias. Or Senator Kennedy.

I'd love to know on what issues Kirk agrees with his party "76%" of the time.
On every major issue, "independent" Mark Kirk is fully supportive of Pelosi's views (abortion, guns, gay rights, Iraq Surge, envirowacko agenda, immigration, cap-and-trade, minimum wage, SCHIP, teacher's unions, big government spending, etc., etc.). My guess is the "76%" of the time he votes with "his" party is on legislation like "National Hug a Veteran a Week" and "Resolution Condemning the NAZI Holocaust". On hot button issues, it's probably more like he agrees with the GOP maybe 20% of the time. This guy is more liberal than a lot of ACTUAL "moderate" Lipinski-type Democrats in Illinois.
Ah for Dr. Eric Wallace, he'd only resemble Alan Keyes if Alan knew how to keep his mouth shut and not shoot himself in the foot. Wallace is much more laid back and likeable, in the manner of Mike Huckabee and Herman Cain

Can anyone outline a conservative position that Kirk has taken on a substantive issue?
If you can you might sway some of the sceptics, otherwise I see no real difference between Kirk and your average Democrat who supports intrusive big government solutions.

"Can anyone outline a conservative position that Kirk has taken on a substantive issue?"
He voted against the stimulus and is an opponent of Obamacare.
There's two right off the top of my head.

This C&T argument, rehashed as frequently as it is proved absurdly false, rears its head each and every time the baby boomer generation is asked to sacrifice their own wallets for the sake of their children’s ecological
inheritance. This shortsighted selfishness is really getting old.
As for Kirk, he is a great fundraiser with solid personal charisma. He may not tow the line everywhere but has solid economic and ForPol cred. and
his enviro. views are hardly the worst direction for the party to head in 2010 and beyond. Downstate "base" types love to saber rattle but we can't throw an election just to appease them via a candidate with no statewide viability.

Sorry Andy, Cap and Trade does nothing for our kids or the environment. Fundraising ability and charisma may be tops on your list, but for most of the party it's fiscal issues. Yes, wouldn't it be great if we had an infinite pot of gold that we could pull from to do all the wonderful things people dream up. But the reality is we are heading rapidly towards a debt meltdown in this country. What has really gotten old is the way we keep stealing from our kids future, putting them in deep debt just so that we could live well above our means.
It's time to grow up and pay the piper.

Cap an Trade is for our children and the environment? I thought it was for centralized control and wealth redistribution. I do appreciate a pro-abortion politician who is "for our children" though.
As for my choice of descriptions of RINO jerk Mark Kirk and Gigolo John, I thought I showed reservation. I suppose they may be offensive to some, but I find their disgusting actions against the citizens of this nation and future generations (the children the environuts like to claim their industry damaging policies serve) to be far more offensive than mild insults.
Mark Kirk may be the great Illinois Republican hope... which is sad.

Capand Tax has met with resistance in the Senate thanks to Democrats like Robert Byrd. We have a little reprieve, since they've now pushed it back until September.

I don't want to pay more taxes. I am a College Student and I am sick and tired of our Government ASKING FOR MY FUTURE MONEY that I will be working hard for. I will NOT be voting for Mark Kirk he a RINO even before C&T vote I wouldn't have voted for him. I don't know who I will vote for.
