Republicans in the General Assembly are demanding action
Quinn, Madigan, Cullerton and other elected officials must take a position today
CHICAGO – As part of its continuing grassroots campaign, the Illinois Republican Party today unveiled an online petition calling for a special election. The petition is being sent to hundreds of thousands of email addresses in Illinois.
“This petition will allow the voters from all of Illinois’ 102 counties to tell their elected officials they are demanding a vote of the people,” said Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna. “The people of Illinois deserve a greater voice in their government and more accountability from their elected officials - this petition will send that message to lawmakers in Springfield.”
“Governor Quinn, Speaker Madigan, President Cullerton and other elected officials must recommit to a special election today,” McKenna added.
This new online petition is the latest part of the Illinois Republican Party’s ongoing grassroots campaign to bring change and accountability to Illinois.
The online petition also features an "Illinois Embarassment Timeline" with quotes the latest news in the ongoing Blagojevich saga. It also includes a copy of today's Chicago Tribune editorial in favor of a special election.
