The DEMOCRATS drafted a DEMOCRAT "Stimulus" Bill that was agreed to by the conference committee yesterday that pretty much only comprised DEMOCRATS. This is because DEMOCRATS wanted only the DEMOCRAT ideas in the DEMOCRAT bill because DEMOCRATS run Congress. (I thought about putting the word DEMOCRAT in there one or two more times, but you are smart readers and will get the message).
Sure, Harry Reid was able to bribe Arlen Specter (RINO-PA), Olympia Snowe (RINO-ME) and Susan Collins (RINO-ME) into giving the DEMOCRAT run Senate some support so it can be passed. It will be interesting to see how much funding the lobster lobby gets and how many middle schools are going to be named after Arlen Specter. Make no mistake, though, this bill was handcrafted by DEMOCRATS without meaningful input from Republicans.
When Republicans are encouraged to be bi-partisan, it means that when they have power, they need to put in a bunch of items that Democrats want so the Democrats don't start crying like 2-year olds. When Democrats are being bi-partisan it means that Democrats control the process and then entice a couple of wobbly Republicans to vote for it, but in the end, it is clearly a Democrat bill. I understand Snow and Collins. In Susan Collins 1994 bid for Governor of Maine, she came in third, the Democrat came in second and the independent won the race. Maine is not exactly a typical political state by any stretch of the imagination. I don't forgive them, but I understand. Arlen Specter is another story. I remember all too well Arlen Specter running hard to the right in the 2004 Republican primary for the US Senate seat in 2004. He had a great challenger in Pat Toomey. Specter got George Bush to campaign for him. Specter proclaimed his conservative roots. We all knew that Specter was lying through his teeth. We were proven right and now, we are proven right again. Arlen Specter cares about Arlen Specter - that is it. Hopefully, the voters of Pennsylvania will remember that in 2 years.
When this "Stimulus" bill raises our national debt through the roof, and we have to start printing money like a Xerox salesman to pay for it and inflation starts roaring, just remember, this was a DEMOCRAT bill. DEMOCRAT. DEMOCRAT. DEMOCRAT (just wanted to say it a few more times for emphasis).
