--- FROM DAWN TURNER TRICE'S COMMENTARY: For more than 40 years, some Republicans have built a coalition on race-baiting, often (but not exclusively) using innuendo and code words to excite the base. Last week, Republicans may have sat back and marveled at the Democrats' implosion, but that was just days after they were embarrassed by one of their own playing race politics with the parody song "Barack the Magic Negro." For a while Republicans had been quite effective using race politics. But the country (though not perfect) is changing. Maybe Rush's tactics still have some legs, but most people are sick and tired of the ugliness. The old battle cry "by any means necessary" once leaned toward the honorable, now it just leans toward old. (DIERSEN: Everyone knows that one of the Democrat Party's main strategies to win elections continues to be to get the minority vote and to get the female vote by blaming all problems that minorities have and all problems that females have on Whites and on men, especially on conservative old White men.)

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
-- Asphalt king Michael Vondra to gov: Help   Feds say Blagojevich's answer: Raise me $100,000 - Tim Novak, Chris Fusco, and Natasha Korecki
http://www.suntimes.com/news/watchdogs/1372683,CST-NWS-watchdog12.article
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Vondra, 57, has been a close friend of DuPage County Board Chairman Robert Schillerstrom, who appointed Vondra to head the county water commission in 2002. Vondra also has served as Schillerstrom's campaign-finance chairman, raising thousands of dollars for DuPage County's top office-holder. Schillerstrom's law firm also has done work for Vondra.  While Vondra oversaw DuPage County's water system, two companies tied to Vondra won construction contracts from the county, submitting the low bids. Vondra resigned from the water commission in May 2006.)

http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=263676
-- U.S. headed toward welfare state - Jack McCabe, Batavia
http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=263191
(THE LETTER: Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin both came to power in Germany and the Soviet Union by eliminating the opposition party. In the process, they started what is referred to as welfare states where everything from employment, production and innovation is controlled by the government. Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is starting the same process that Hitler and Stalin did in the 1930s. She is eliminating the Republican Party's influence in the House. Under new rules proposed by Pelosi, the minority party (Republicans) will not be able to offer any substantive altering of any bill presented to the House members. Pelosi states that this will allow all of the Democratic impending agendas not to be delayed once Barack Obama assumes the presidency. These new rules also remove the term limits of the House committee chairman. The Democrats have taken control of the United States. With the Democrats in control, the United States will become the United State. The Democratic agenda is to make every person, business and project dependent on the government. Republican Congressional districts will receive nothing from the government. That is the way Pelosi wants it and she has no opposition.)
-- Wheaton College noted for value
http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=263404
(THE ARTICLE: Wheaton College was ranked among the top 15 on a list of Kiplinger's Personal Finance 100 best values in private institutions. The publication ranks private liberal arts colleges and universities that combine outstanding economic value with exceptional education. Wheaton was the only West suburban institution to make the list, with only four other private Illinois colleges and universities in the ranking.)

NAPERVILLE SUN
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: OUTRAGEOUS: DuPage County continues to encourage "nonprofit organizations" to ask for money that DuPage County, Illinois, the federal government, and other government entities have taken away from taxpayers.  If DuPage County, Illinois, the federal government, and other government entities had not taken those tax dollars away from you, you could give those dollars to the "nonprofit organization" of your choice.  It is beyond outrageous that government entities use their taxation powers to so they can favor their favored "nonprofit organizations."
