House Speaker Mike Madigan (and chairman of the Illinois Democratic Party) has summoned House members to Springfield next Monday to reportedly discuss legislation to strip away U.S. Senate vacancy-filling powers.
The Trib's DC correspondent Lynn Sweet told Greta Van Susteran U. S. Senate Majority leader Harry Reid has said the Senate will not accept any appointments Blagojevich could possibly make.
