Ya gotta love the fallout, as the Dem-roaches continue to scatter today. Obama's staff -- especially Rahm Emanuel -- DID talk to the Governor. The Republican Congressional Caucus is on it. Via email...
Washington -- According to breaking media reports, Nancy Pelosi’s former right-hand man and incoming White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was in contact with disgraced Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich about his crooked pay-to-play scheme to fill Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat. While Obama has vociferously denied any staff involvement, reports indicate that Blagojevich and the former Congressman may have had a taped conversation about the Governor’s possibly criminal plan to fill the empty seat:
“A reliable source familiar with the investigation is telling me tonight that there were indeed conversations between Barack Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and the Governor himself about candidates who might be filling the seat vacated by Barack Obama, and those conversations may have been taped.” (WFLD Chicago, 12/11/08)
Emanuel himself has raised red flags by refusing to answer questions from the press about his involvement in Blagojevich’s scheme. The notoriously opinionated former Congressman was conspicuously silent when approached by the Chicago Sun-Times about the possibility that he was the unnamed Obama advisor cited in the federal criminal complaint against Blagojevich:
“President-elect Barack Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, refused to take questions from reporters this morning about whether he was the Obama ‘advisor’ named in the criminal complaint against Gov. Rod Blagojevich.”
“Emanuel was uncharacteristically absent from Obama’s news conference this morning. He was spotted two hours later in the lobby of Chicago’s City Hall.”
“‘You’re wasting your time,’ Emanuel said. ‘I’m not going to say a word to you.’” (Chicago Sun-Times, 12/11/08)
“Considering Rahm Emanuel’s penchant for being one of the most outspoken political hitmen in Washington, it speaks volumes about his possible role in the Blagojevich scandal that he refuses to answer a single question from the press,” said NRCC spokesman Ken Spain. “The amount of involvement in this unraveling scandal by both the Pelosi-led Democrats in Congress and the incoming administration is nothing short of startling. It’s time for Emanuel to come clean about his role and give the American people the answers they deserve.”
