Timetable For Withdrawal From Wall Street

Wallstreetbroadwaynyc by Andy Haaf

Will Democrats apply their Iraq policy to that of the current financial crisis? Think about it for a moment. Democrats have been steadfast on insisting American troops must leave so the Iraq people can decide for themselves how to form their government and conduct their lives.

They believe we had no business going in (except for the tons of Democrats who voted to give authorization but I digress) and certainly it is none of OUR business how the Iraq people proceed as a country, right? Is this starting to sound familiar?

Like or not the intelligence which led us into Iraq was flawed. How is that any different than the so-called "intelligence" for the bail-out? The American people were scared into believing Wall Street had detonated the economy-equivalent of weapons of mass destruction.

What was conveniently left out of the Wall Street Intelligence Estimate was that President Carter, President Clinton and Democrats in Congress themselves were primarily to blame along with a few willing accomplices in the banking industry. Oh, and let us not forget our friends at ACORN who were just as guilty of lobbying (extorting) banks to making these loans as well.

President Bush and Republicans in Congress do not get a pass from me either. Just because you "raised a concern" years ago does not let you off the hook. What is the point of yelling "fire" if nobody in the burning building can hear you? If you truly believed there was a problem then you should have mobilized support and demand the American people realize what is at stake. Saying "I told you so" now does not help us.

So who is playing the role of whom in the critically acclaimed series called Government Tried And Taxpayers Cried?

- President Bush as himself
- Henry Paulson as Donald Rumsfeld
- House and Senate Banking Committees as Al Queda
- ACORN as the Taliban
- And of course the taxpayers as our brave soldiers

Here we are today and Wall Street is the new Baghdad. So how will Democrats vote if Republicans call for a timetable for withdrawal from private industry? Somehow I think when it comes to THIS crisis Democrats would prefer to remain in town for as long as it takes to "complete the mission".

Unfortunately the objective of their mission is not freedom and the creation of a strong ally in the region. Their mission is villainizing the private sector, influencing free markets, penalizing taxpayers and ensuring Government assumes control of a portion of our financial industry. Oh, and last but not least. At no time do they admit fault or assume responsibility of their own.

I challenge you to demand an "exit strategy" on THIS war and see what response you get.
