IL Democrats target House candidate for prolife stance
Over the weekend, the Democratic Party of Illinois showed how low they will go to gain another House seat. This time, they're blatantly lying about a highly respected Naperville councilwoman who cherishes life from its beginning stages.
While expected from the likes of abortion extremists such as Planned Parenthood or Illinois' flowing-with-cash Personal PAC, voters in the Naperville-based 96th House District were a little taken aback to receive such blatant false information about Republican House candidate Darlene Senger from House Speaker Mike Madigan. Madigan is the chairman of the Illinois Democratic Party and some claim he privately
professes to be prolife.
This week's Democrat-paid mailer pretty much dispels any notion Mike Madigan is now or ever has been a prolife ally. Anyone in Illinois politics who says such a thing should be ignored and shunned from Illinois' prolife cause. They should be called on the carpet for enabling enemies of life and his or her political judgement should be deemed skewed and worthless.
So,what exactly was so bad in the anti-Senger piece?
First, hidden among photos of dark alley and coat hangers, the Democrats say they got their information from Ralph Rivera's Illinois Citizens for Life questionnaire. Rivera insists the content of his questionnaires are confidential.
Although Rivera has historically backed pro-life Democrats and is reportedly cooperating with once-Republican, now-Democrat Paul Froehlich's re-election campaign, the Democrats claim on the mailer they gathered confidential survey information from Mr. Rivera. Such a destructive claim could adversely affect the longtime pro-life lobbyist's credibility in the prolife community. The Democrats should correct any misrepresentation concerning the Illinois Citizens for Life questionnaire.
The Democrats' claim that Councilman Senger is an extremist on the life issue is nothing but hysterical melodrama. True prolifers recognize life begins at conception and should be consistently respected and protected -- even if a precious life begins when her mother is the victim of a violent crime. Senger's concern is both for the mother and for the child she's carrying. The point should be to punish a criminal attacker, not the life that results or the innocent victim of a crime.
The Illinois Democratic Party's claim that Senger is against abortion even if a mother's life is endangered is not found on Illinois Citizens' for Life website primary 2008 questionnaire responses (as noted to the right). Senger never claimed to be against abortion when a mother's life is endangered. That claim is a blatant lie and should cause anyone to question the credibility of any future mailing coming from the Illinois Democratic Party.
IL Democratic Party chairman Mike Madigan should apologize to Darlene Senger for mailing fraudulant information to voters. He should apologize to Ralph Rivera for telling the world he took information from Illinois Citizens' for Life's questionnaire when it was never disclosed to them. Diane McGuire should apologize for lying to the people of Naperville and its surrounding House District for being a part of the despictable effort.
We know Democrats are the Abortion Party. They should hear from prolifers that having no respect for preborn life doesn't present a platform for Democrats to misrepresent the truth.

I recieved one of these flyers and it makes me want to give back to the sender personally so I can tell them where to put it.

I am pro choice and this type of campaigning disgusts me. Dianne McGuire won't even put her name on it. Well let me tell you something Mrs. McGuire, this doesn't work, so go home to Mike Madigan and tell him you need some new ideas.

Does Ron Rivera say that the Dems are wrong about the information they supposedly got from his confidential questionnaire? If I read the article correctly, all Rivera is saying is that his questionnaires are confidential. That doesn't mean that the Dems were wrong, but that they got the info somehow under the table. Unfortunately, information found in confidential questionnaires gets out. I've seen it happen at other places. Rivera can put an end to the speculation by saying that the Dems are simply wrong. His not doing so may unfairly make it look like the Dems are right about Senger.

Ooops - that was Ralph, not Ron Rivera. Sorry about that.

Maybe this will wake up some naive pro-lifers to political realities. Their naivete in thinking everything is about the issue, and not about money and power and friendship, has only hurt their cause.

The exact same (cookie cutter) flyer was sent out against Peggy Brothman who is running against Crespo in the 44th district.
It's sad how low the Democrats will go to win an election - all they do is lie.

I just viewed the Illinois Citizens for Life ratings of candidates reference above and they do not list an exception for rape or incest by Senger's name. That means according to their own statement that they do not believe that Senger supports an exception to allow abortion in the case of rape or incest. Seems to me like the Dems have the facts on their side.

The point is the Democrats said Senger exempts rape, incest and LIFE of the mother. Mrs. Senger never said at any time she exempted the LIFE of the mother. The only place they could have gotten verification of that information was from Mr. Rivera's questionnaire, and those questionnaires are kept confidential. Mr. Rivera has followed up and said that the ad reports false information. Mrs. Senger does not exempt the life of the mother. Their point is to lie and make her look radical on the abortion issue.
The point is they lied. The LIFE issue is a huge one and should matter.
