Sarah Heath Palin -- 20 years ago
Now known as Alaska's "hockey mom" premiere, Governor Sarah Palin loved sports years before the Palins' son played hockey. Dubbed Sarah "Barracuda" Heath when she played women's college basketball, Palin was a tough female sportscaster in Anchorage twenty years ago. Now she's the Republicans' candidate for vice president. Circa 1988 -- the Big Hair era.

I am very proud for Sarah and very happy with McCain's choice for selecting her as his running mate. I have been so impressed with everything I've heard her say so far. May I ask if there is a way to find out what eyeglass frames she is wearing? They are very attractive and becoming to her? I am in the fashion/beauty industry and would personally be interested in those particular frames since I am due for new glasses. Thank you very much and Mrs VP to be, the very best to you and your family!

I just love her! She is a fresh shot in the arm for conservatives. Her, hubbie and family are everyday people. Who knew that could be seen as refreshing! But given the recent "climate", it is..My optimism is full up, once again

Wonderful. Her family is a wreck, and she wants to impose her own social policies on the rest of America.
Of all America, this is who John McCain picked to succeed him if he couldn't continue in office? Really?

Well, Ronnie started as a sportscaster you know. Hmm.

To Bill above. "Family is a wreck?" Are you joking. It looks like her marriage and family are as solid as a rock. As for a teenage pregnancy, this is not a family wreck. It is as old as dirt. Happens all the time. Not something you want to happen, but it does and you handle it like they are, as a good, loving family. It is a twisted political mind that sees negative "Wrecks" in others just because you disagree with them politically.

teenage pregnancy is not normal, it shows lack of moral values and guidance from parents, if she can't even direct her daughter properly how can she direct a nation as vp?

Sarah Palin was an energizing choice for the over-the-hill geezer McBush.
Now, when will we see how she performs on say, Meet The Press, Larry King, Bill O'Reilly, etc??
The vice-presidential debate should be REAL interesting...

I think that sarah is terrific. Let anyone cast stones. Should cast that first stone right back at them. Even though us as parents don't want our children to be parents at such a young age. It doesn't reflect what kind of parent we are. Mikee must not have any children. Or he has been one of the lucky parents who has not had to endure any hardships raising a child. Sarah, has morals. It is just what this country needs.

To Mikee: Really??? Teenage pregnancies have been around FOREVER!! Where have you been? Even in our grandparents age! You must not have any children or you are just clueless to LIFE. Regardless, Palin is refreshing and her teenage daughter's choices are no reflection on how she will be as our VP. You can teach children right and wrong, but ultimately, you adults still make their own choices.

Many pundits are saying John McCain made a brilliant move when he brought Sarah Palin on board. I believe he made a mistake. I would have voted for McCain (I was a Hillary supporter) but not with Palin on the ticket. My eyes aren't covered with rose colored lenses and I don't see her as the saviour of the Republican party. What I DO see is a woman who has a very dangerous, "My way or the highway" approach to governing. I work for a city government and I can assure you that my bosses (the City Manager and the Mayor) would never tell me that I can't talk to the press without going through them first(as Palin did with her city department heads). This is also a woman who considered banning books. The President of the United
States will take an oath to protect the first amendment.
Sarah Palin is a heartbeat away from the presidency. McCain is in his early 70's. Would I love to see a woman in the White House? Absolutely. This woman? Absolutely not.
What is Sarah going to do if the press makes her mad? Fire them? How is she going to work with congress? How will she work with other world leaders?
After the "glow" is gone, we need to ask ourselves these questions. Is this woman ready to lead the country? I'm not risking it with my vote.

Sarah Palin is a hypocrite. She was pregnant when she was married. Her daughter got pregnany while in high school. Still, she supports abstinence only sex education.
Despite the apparent success of her marriage, Ms. Palin is no role model for morals, as evidenced by this mypocracy and many others.
Why do people vote for superficial qualities like "sparky" instead of evaluating the record?
We get the government we deserve. If people are so stupid to vote for McCain/Palin only because Sarah is a "fresh shot in the arm", they deserve every bit of the distress that choice causes them in the future.

How can she be taken seriously when she looked like a deer in the headlights with Charles Gibson? The McCain camp handpicked Gibson because he is known as a non confrontational softball lobber. Bush Doctrine??? Never heard of it Charlie. Be afraid, be very afraid. Don't be blinded by packaging. Get informed. You will see that nearly everything out of Palin's mouth have turned ot to be less than honest best case, flat out lies in most cases.

Sarah Palin is totally unqualified for the job of Vice President. Her strong views on womens issues will undo all the rights women have fought for so long to obtain. Separation of Church and State is essential in a Democracy. I am concerned that her strong religious beliefs will be forced on people who have different views.

maybe sarah should have stuck to sports broadcasting ..lol.. but yet she could barley speak well then..This chick is a train wreck..I realy dont understand how she made it so far to where she is now. Her IQ. is that of a confused teenager..oh wait she has one of those too.. Id realy like to see how she'd be able to handle all her children plus a vice presidncey.Hopefully she wont fire the nanny .. Cuase that would be the next conspircy of gov sarah palin

It is too bad that the media no longer reports news but prepares and doles out such Liberal-Democrat crap while subsequently having pinko panels then interpret what you just heard.
Sarah Heath Palin is one great lady with not only a pretty face, but the brains and the savvy of an exceptionally bright American housewife, to effect the greatest good for the country. Yet, if Obama wins, I have no doubt his philosphy will move more to the centre, and hence, all will be well regardless of outcome.

Am sadden to see this 'bright spark' in US politics quench her political spark. For what ever reason, on the 'other side of the world', some of us have appreciated your bright sparkle, your zeal and general 'bubbling enthuasism'. Hopefull we'll see that smile again - greetings from Australia and one of your many fans :-)
