UPDATE 1x: Holy Cow! When we first posted this this morning, we had no idea what was going on in Denver. Illinois Democrats had a hugfest today for real! Watch Blagojevich hug Madigan at the 5 minute mark.

We read in the Kankakee Daily Journal this morning about Democratic 11th CD candidate Debbie Halvorson's inspiring take on unifying kum-by-yas being sung among the peaceniks at the DNC HERE.
At first glance, I wasn't sure whether Halvorson was talking about Hillary Clinton's speech last night or Michelle Obama's private lecturing to Illinois' Democratic delegation Tuesday afternoon. After all, Hillary supporters were still fuming about Senate President Emil Jones's "Uncle Tom-ing" fellow delegate Delmarie Cobb Monday for her obstinate support of the Clintons, and it took a personal visit from Michelle Obama to straighten them out:
"She did her part to make sure we are a Democratic team coming out together," said Halvorson, the Illinois Senate majority leader, an Obama delegate and his former colleague in the Illinois Senate.
"She did a great job of bringing everybody together and proving that she wants to be a team player."
It was Hillary Halvorson was talking about, not Michelle Obama.
And why the story in the local paper? Well, Halvorson was giddy with delight for being spotlighted on the DNC stage before Hillary's speech. Halvorson's one of the DNC's favorites to pick up a Republican seat this fall.
The state senator described to the Daily Journal how she stood on stage and waved when her name was called. Halvorson didn't mention whether or not she was skipped over to say a few words because she had lost her voice yelling at Emil for "ruining her career!" (as reported yesterday by Rich Miller in his daily CapitolFax) for his indiscriminate phrasing.
Don't fret, Debbie. You were assuming that there would be furor about Emil's insult towards Cobb. It won't be Emil that brings your career down.
Ah yeah, but you don't hear much all those little nuggets from Obamas home state because those "kum-by-yas" are just too loud in Denver . . .
